Logan was commissioned to produce a concept for a turning a disused Fitzroy car yard into a hip Saturday artisans market. The concept was derived from the practical aspect of setting up the market every week to accommodate the display of a diverse range of wares and allow the artist create autonomy.
A ‘Russian doll concept’ was applied, with carefully sized boxes that could be unpacked from within each other, arranged by the artist to display their work and then easily packed away at the end of the day. The Art Deco aesthetic of sequential ‘stacking’ was an inspiration and this in turn informed the design of the publicity material for the market, which became a contemporary take on the 1930s silent movie posters. The boxes were constructed out of sustainably produced marine ply and continue to provide a flexible display system to the market.
